郭建斌教授著作《在场》英文版出版

Being Present: Mobile Cinema In Kham Tibetan Areas由Palgrave Macmillan出版社于2024年8月出版。该书由我院郭建斌教授与云南大学新闻学院陈静静副教授合作完成。该书中文版《在场:流动电影与当代中国社会建构》2019年已由上海交通大学出版社出版.

该书以滇川藏交界的“大三角”地区作为研究区域,以人类学的田野调查为主要方法,受“多点民族志”进路启发,以流动电影相关的“媒介实践”作为考察对象,前后进行了五年的田野研究。

作者在著作中提出了核心理论概念——“在场”,指“由特定的大众传播制度及相应实践所构筑的时空中的一种“结构化”存在及其象征意义”。围绕“在场”概念,作者从国家“在场”、观影者“在场”以及“转场”三个方面来展开讨论,进而从一个侧面对流动电影与当代中国社会建构之间的关系进行讨论。

郭建斌教授是国内传播学与人类学交叉学科研究领域,亦称“民族志传播研究”的重要开创者和代表性学者。《在场:流动电影与当代中国社会建构》一书是作者多年从事民族志传播研究从方法到理论的一次系统呈现,“在场”概念是源于中国特定的经验所形成的理论表达,开创了更为贴近中国传播经验的理论阐释空间。本书的外译,对提升中国本土原创传播研究的国际影响起到积极作用。

该书虽是由中文版翻译而成,但是合作者陈静静不但参与课题的调查,并完成了其博士论文(陈静静:《制度变迁与权力流动—康区流动电影放映研究》,云南大学博士论文, 2015年),同时在翻译过程中对中文版中的某些内容、表述进行了订正、改写。

该书也是由安然、雷蔚真、吴飞教授主编的系列专著丛书《多元观察:当代中国文化与传播研究》中的第一本。
